Gabriele Seethaler

Starting in 1994, Gabriele Seethaler began attending photography classes, including at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg with Prof. Katharina Sieverding. With her series IMMORTAL IDENTITIES, the artist subtly explores the multiple perspectives of European intellectual giants. Philosophers, writers, artists, scientists, composers, and statesmen are visited at their places of influence across Europe, where they attained immortality through significant monuments and sites. The photographic images of these monuments merge with historical photographs through digital manipulation and multiple exposures to create new collages. Additionally, the artist employs the almost forgotten lenticular image technique from the 1940s as a mode of representation, bringing icons to life in large-format three-dimensional portraits.
