Wolfgang Hollegha, born 1929 in Klagenfurt, is a significant abstract austrian painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Josef Dobrowsky and Herbert Boeckl between 1947 - 1954. Together with Josef Mikl, Markus Prachensky and Arnulf Rainer, he founded the St. Stephan painters group in 1955. In 1960 Hollegha was invited by Clement Greenberg to participate in a group exhibition with fellow abstract painters Kenneth Noland, Barnett Newman, David Smith, Helen Frankenthaler and others in the New York Gallery French & Co. Acquaintance. 1964 Hollegha was part of the Documenta 3 in Kassel. His works are part of several private collections as well as public collections, such as the Albertina, Vienna; MUMOK, Vienna;
