Erwin Wurm
Erwin Wurm, born in 1954, is a contemporary Austrian artist working across media with a critical approach to visualizing reality, seen in his mix of sculpture, painting, performance, video, and photography. Wurm follows a similar approach like Joseph Beuys, by contributing his own take on “social sculpture” with his popular One Minute Sculptures series of short performance pieces. In 2017, Erwin Wurm was represented in the Austrian Pavillion at the Venice Biennale.
Wurm’s works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Albertina in Vienna, and the Tate Gallery in London, among others.
