Oskar Kokoschka

Oskar Kokoschka (1886 - 1980) was an Austrian painter, graphic artist and writer of Expressionism and Viennese Modernism. He is known for his expressionistic portraits and landscapes. Kokoschka was always concerned with expressing human character and psychology through effects of color, formal distortion and violent brushwork. Similar to Max Beckmann, he is considered a founding leader of Expressionism.
