Hildegard Joos (H+H Joos)
With more than 150 works and a wealth of documentation, the retrospective provides an unprecedented overview of the artist's life's work, including key works that are symptomatic of the work of Hildegard and Harold Joos. The show begins with the figuratively expressive early work from 1949 and ends with small geometrical grid compositions from 2003, which she was able to put on the canvas almost blinded only under the guidance of Harold Joos. This wide arc, arranged chronologically and also spatially into groups of works, illustrates the artistic potency and diversity of this grand dame with the geometric series, with the balances, shifts, reductions, Aequivoken evolutions, the narrative geometrisms and space narratives, finally with the all-overs and raster images of abstract constructivism.

The retrospective together with the artist's monograph on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the gallery is one of those projects which continues the tradition of the gallery's numerous exhibition projects since the early 1980s: an overview by an Austrian artist accompanied by an art history catalog Monograph with a work overview or a catalog raisonné. In the process, discounts of artists and artists usually found their way into a work of art, which at the time had been completely forgotten. Rediscovered and with retrospectives and publications in the consciousness of art lovers Martin has the artists Hans Böhler, Josef Floch, Gustav Hessing, Herbert Bayer, Wilhelm Kaufmann, the exile artist Hugo Puck Dachinger - they all shared the same fate, painting ban or emigration. But also Marie Egner, Alfred Zoff, Emil Rizek and Demeter Koko, or the painter of the departure, Hermine Aichenegg. The refurbishments have been able to bring new appreciation to all of these artists over the years, as well as a significant position in the art market.
